Contact your Rep. to Oppose H.R. 1424

By Paul Reads - Posted on 02 October 2008

The appropriations bill that started in the Senate (isn't that illegal? more details here) is now heading to the House.

The House defeated the first bailout bill. This one is four times the length, and as I stressed to my representative just a few minutes ago, it hands over the power of the purse to the Treasury and the Federal Reserve.

A few messages might resound with your representative:

  • I am a voter and it is important to me that you vote against this
  • You will lose the "power of the purse," perhaps the most important constitutional power of the House of Representatives
  • Nonsense economics: The American people will suffer because this represents more of the same, and inflation always hurts out the little guy first
  • (If they voted against it the first time) You voted against it once. Now it's bigger and worse.

Find your Rep. and contact him or her.
